Our country successfully cooperates with the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia and provides comprehensive assistance to their activities, making a significant contribution to the consolidation of efforts to establish enduring humanistic values in the world. In recent years, Ashgabat has confidently established itself in the status of a recognized centre of fruitful cooperation in the field of sports, which has become the venue for large competitions of regional and world significance. The most vivid example of this is the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, held in 2017 on the arenas of the Olympic Village in the Turkmen capital.

A valuable guide

The Exhibition Centre of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the International Exhibition ‘Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State’ on October 10-12 and, within its framework, a scientific conference timed to coincide with the Day of Health Workers and the Medical Industry, widely celebrated in our country. Representatives of different fields of medicine from over 20 countries of the world took part in the exhibition. The national mass media took part in the exhibition and reviewed the achievements of the health, education and sports systems. Within the framework of the exhibition, a presentation of Volume XV of the encyclopaedic work by the Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ‘Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan’, published on the eve of the professional holiday of healthcare workers of the country, took place. This work gives an opportunity to promote medicinal plants growing in our country. At the same time, it is a huge contribution to the development of the national medicine and the world pharmacology and phytotherapy.

According to the document signed by the President of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat will host the international contest ‘Ýylyň türkmen edermen alabaýy’ on October 29, 2023. Impressive results of our compatriots

The athletes from Turkmenistan won 19 medals at the Uzbekistan Open Kickboxing Championship. 26 Turkmen athletes prepared under the leadership of Orazmuhammet Komekov and Ruslan Chuliyev and took part in the competition for medals in 4 disciplines (point fighting, kick light, low kick and full contact) in 10 weight class events. Thus, Jasurbek Ahmedov (32 kg, point fighting and kick light events), Nepes Byashimov (48 kg, low kick event), Shahruh Sheraliyev (51 kg, low kick event), Salamathan Baltaev (74 kg, kick light event), and Serdar Berdimyradov (86 kg, low kick event) won gold medals. Zaravshan Yangibaev (57 kg, full contact event), Muhammetberdi Allaberdiyev (63.5 kg , low kick event), Akmyrat Akmyradov (67 kg, low kick event), Muhammetaly Ovezov (69 kg, kick light event), Atajan Rozyev (71 kg, low kick event), and Narzulla Bazarov (71 kg, low kick event) earned silver medals.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan on September 24, on the eve of the 32nd anniversary of the independence of the Motherland. The agenda of the national forum, which has become a historic event in the life of our country, included the priority tasks of implementing fundamental transformations aimed at the dynamic development of Turkmenistan and ensuring a prosperous and happy life of our people. Our Hero-Arkadag noted that representatives of the state authorities, the deputies of the Mejlis, workers of the ministries, departments, political parties, and public organizations, the hyakims of Velayats, Etraps, and cities, members of the halk maslahaty of Velayats, Etraps and cities, the elders, ordinary people from all regions and others were invited at the meeting. In 2017, the Law of Turkmenistan on Combating Doping in Sports became the main guide for the physical culture and sports specialists. The law includes the World Anti-Doping Code of the World Anti-Doping Agency, the International Convention Against Doping in Sport (a multilateral UNESCO treaty), and other internationally recognized norms. The establishment of the National Anti-Doping Agency of Turkmenistan strengthened the combat against doping in sports.

A number of buildings of educational institutions were opened in all regions of the country on September 1. It should be noted that hundreds of young people were lucky to take part in the general lesson by our Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which took place at the Ruhyyet Palace in the city of Arkadag. When people listened to the speech of our Hero-Arkadag at this lesson on the Watan news programme on the first day of the 2023/2024 academic year, they took great pride in the glorious history, and the present-day achievements of the sacred independence.
