School vacations continue!

In these last days of July, it is unusually quiet at the children’s recreation centres in Geokdere. The health resorts have taken a short “pause”, which will be interrupted a day before the entry of August into its calendar rights, when the fifth summer shift starts. However, during this short shift change, the main organisers of the schoolchildren’s summer holidays – specialists of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan – have enough to do. There the results of previous seasons are being summed up and an equally fruitful plan for the upcoming work is being outlined, taking into account the special creative, intellectual and sports preferences of young vacationers.

Schoolchildren on holidays in Geokdere

Targeted events timed to coincide with the Days of Culture and Poetry of Magtymguly Pyragy are held at the children’s health centres located in the Geokdere natural health resort. Parade of Creative Talents

From the Traveller’s Notebook

The sanctuaries of Myane Baba and Myalik Baba have always been places of pilgrimage. Our group decided to visit those places, the ancient city of Abiverd and the mausoleum of Sandykly Baba. Early in the morning, a bus with tourists left the city, heading for Tejen. It was dark and quiet in the bus, many tourists were dozing, and the bus was driving us further and further away from home. We made our first stop in Dushak. Then we saw the familiar blue gate! A guide Abdurahman Eserov greeted us there and invited to the room, where members of the international expedition that had conducted archaeological excavations in the ancient city that had existed in the 11th century were depicted on the wall. The people from different nationalities, French, German, British, Italian, Chinese and Russian, worked there. Everything they found became exhibits of the State Museum of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan.

A voucher to the whole family for a trip to Avaza

In summer, during vacations and children’s holidays, many face a choice: where to go and relax, gain strength and impressions and improve their health? And, of course, the best vacation for the whole family is on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea in the Avaza national tourism zone, where excellent conditions have been created for a comfortable and healthy rest. It should be noted that sea bathing has a great hardening effect. In this case, the body is complexly influenced by temperature, the chemical composition of water, the shock of waves and clean air free from dust and microbes. Besides, sea air contains more moisture, ozone, microscopic salt crystals and phytoncides. Salts of minerals (sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium and others) and also trace elements (iodine, bromine, etc.), contained in sea water, are absorbed through the skin, affecting the activity of the nervous system and metabolism. And, of course, rest on the seashore, a picturesque landscape, sparkling water in the sun, the sound of waves and a light breeze will help “throw off” the fatigue accumulated over the year, be recharged with energy for the coming months and create a calm and joyful mood.

Avaza: Pearl of the Caspian Sea, Ecological Excellence

The state environmental policy carried out by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is harmoniously combined with the protection of the ecosystems of the globe and has been widely recognised at the international level. Scientific institutions, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection and other departments of Turkmenistan are called upon to preserve the beauty of Avaza – a new pearl of the East in a priceless setting of pristine nature. In ensuring the optimal balance of large-scale construction with the natural environment of the Caspian Sea, foreign specialists fruitfully work together with our experts within the framework of a global partnership, as members of interdepartmental state commissions for economic cooperation of the countries of the Caspian region, including ecologists of the Caspian Environmental Programme and other authoritative international organisations.

Before Going to the Resort — call 119

In the Avaza national tourism zone, everything is ready to receive tourists who will start arriving there on June 1. On the first day of summer, all hotels and recreation centres, cottage villages and health resorts for adults and children will open their doors, starting the summer season. As you know, the idea of creating a world-class resort on the ecologically clean coast of the Caspian Sea belongs to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. It was announced in May 2007, and two months later, the presentation of the first projects for construction in the allotted territory in the National tourism zone took place. Today, only 14 years later, this “paradise” of the Turkmen seaside is well known not only among the Turkmen people, for whom Avaza is a favourite vacation spot, but also among numerous foreign tourists who have appreciated the comfort and high service level of the luxury hotels and recreation centres of the sea resort. Besides, in the health centres of hotels and health resorts, fitted with the latest medical equipment and physiotherapy aparatus from leading European manufacturers, one can receive advice from qualified medical specialists and take a course of therapeutic and prophylactic procedures, including the use of healing clay, iodine-bromine water and other “natural healers”.

Many will surely find entertainment in the sports grounds and in the fitness centres of the hotels. Much is also provided for children, including game rooms. On the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, transport routes have been organised to the place of vacation and back from it, measures have been taken to provide hotels and children’s recreation centres with sufficient volumes of food products, and work is underway to organise concerts and other cultural events.

Planning a Vacation

On the eve of the summer season, when many Turkmen people started planning their vacation and the place of its spending, it was announced that the summer holiday season would open in the Avaza national tourism zone from June 1 till September 1. That was announced at a recent meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, where the issues of creating conditions for a full and relaxing vacation and strengthening the health of the Turkmen people were discussed. In addition, the rules of travelling to the seaside resort and to the country’s recreation centres were announced at an offsite meeting of the Emergency Commission for combating the spread of diseases, held last Friday with the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. At the government meetings, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the need to thoroughly prepare recreation complexes in the Avaza national tourism zone for the upcoming summer holiday season and to keep sanitary standards under strict control. Thus, the issues of ecology and sanitary-epidemiological state of the Caspian Sea water, desalination plants and other facilities, as well as places of swimming and recreation of people, are to be in the centre of constant attention. In addition, water, air and soil samples are to be collected on a systematic basis at certain points along the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea and a report on the
