Book About the Unique Heritage of Ancient Anau

At a sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, held on March 23 of the current year, the respected President presented his new book entitled Änew – münýyllyklardan gözbaş alýan medeniýet. This joyful news filled the hearts of the people of Turkmenistan with pride, because each new work of the respected President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag increasingly elevates the international authority of our sacred Motherland and exalts the glory of the diligent Turkmen people. As the head of state noted, the creation of the new book had been facilitated by information from historical sources collected by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who had managed to work with famous scientists and their descendants, to organise trips of archaeologists to different parts of the country and in general to carry out activities related to excavations.

Cotton Sowing Starts in Turkmenistan

An important agricultural campaign – cotton sowing – has started in the country. In accordance with the schedule approved at the sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers on March 15, cotton growers in the Ahal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary velayats began sowing on March 20. Farmers of the Dashoguz velayat are to join them on March 27. According to established tradition, the beginning of sowing was blessed by venerable elders. After reading a prayer to the Almighty for the wellbeing and prosperity of the Motherland, the Turkmen people and the head of state, they threw the first cotton seeds into the ground and then gave way to machine operators.

The Most Charming Girl of the Country

The final stage of the competition “The Most Charming Girl – 2024”, the participants of which were students of grades 2–4 of secondary schools of the country, was held at the Watan Cinema and Concert Centre in the capital. The competition among the most charming girls was organised by the Central Council of Magtymguly Youth Organisation together with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the National Spring Holiday. The festive creative competition took place in several rounds and fourteen girls who won the capital, velayat and city rounds took part in the finals. It is worth noting that this year there are more participants: for the first time, two representatives from the city of Arkadag are participating in this competition.

Based on Climate Agenda

Speaking at the closing government sitting on February 9, the President of Turkmenistan ordered special attention be paid to improving the professional skills of oil and gas industry specialists, introducing digital technologies and reducing the negative impact of the oil and gas sector on the environment and human health, namely, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In this regard, week-long consultations on the mitigation plans in view of the recent accession of Turkmenistan to the Global Methane Pledge, the aspects of implementation of these plans in partnerships with international organisations and the implementation of the Paris Agreement, ratified by Turkmenistan in 2016, were held with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat. Both documents follow from and are synergistic with the provisions of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to which our country acceded in 1995. A two-day meeting, which was held at the building complex of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas industry involving the UN experts, was the first and most attended event of the “Methane Week”. Multiple Victories of Turkmen Connoisseurs

In the capital of Malaysia, the city of Kuala Lumpur, which is considered one of the largest centres of the country and the most rapidly developing megacities of Southeast Asia, the International English Language Competition for schoolchildren entitled “TeenEagle” has completed its work. Over a thousand schoolchildren from more than fifty countries of the world took part in this linguistic competition. Our country was represented at the Competition by a team of fifteen students of seventh to eleventh grade from Ashgabat specialised secondary schools 49, 83, 86, 87, 97 and 135. In total, Turkmen schoolchildren participated in various nominations of the Olympiad in three age groups and won 32 prestigious awards. Among them are ten honorary Grand Prix, six gold, five silver and eleven bronze medals. Thus, some children became winners of several awards at the same time.

Algae as the Basis of the Building Material

In recent years, the in-depth scientific study of raw materials, including aquatic biological resources, has been carried out all over the world. Not so long ago, biological resources of aquatic origin were considered only as raw materials for the production of traditional types of food, fodder and technical products. The results of the study of their composition show that they are sources of various biologically active substances that can be used for the production of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and productivity stimulants for farm animals and plants. In many countries around the world, industrial cultivation of microalgae is carried out in order to obtain biologically active substances. The main object of cultivation is cyanobacteria of the genus Spirulina, which live naturally in many countries, including the territory of our state. Research work on the in-depth study of cyanoprokaryota (cyanobacteria) is underway in the biotechnology laboratory of the Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The purpose of the work is both the promising use of cyanoprokaryota in bionanotechnologies on the example of living building material and the identification of their diversity and distribution in the regions of Turkmenistan. ASTANABABA - a Sacred Place

About ten kilometres west of the city of Kerki is the medieval historical monument of Astanababa, which is considered one of the holy places in the Muslim world. Pilgrims come there to bow and read a prayer for the repose of the souls of those whose bodies found their final resting place there. People who believed in the miraculous power of the ashes of saints came there to receive healing from their ailments. The caretaker of the monument, who was respected among the population, was asked to bless new beginnings. Drivers of long-distance buses, despite the fact that there is no parking there, stopped the car for a short time to receive wishes for a safe journey, giving passengers the opportunity to make a donation. And nowadays it is always crowded there. Newlyweds come there after their wedding ceremony to venerate the ashes of the saints in the hope that this ritual will strengthen their family ties. The medieval architectural complex of Astanababa has enjoyed such fame at all times. Pilgrims who live far beyond the Lebap velayat come there. This historical and cultural monument consists of a mosque and a tomb. Its first part was erected in the 12th century, and then new buildings were added, and it acquired its final form only in the 17th century.
