An Important Stage in the Modernisation of the Electric Power Industry
The commissioning of the Balkan–Dashoguz high-voltage power transmission line with a voltage of 500 kilovolts and a total length of 572 kilometres and the new electrical substations, Balkan and Dashoguz with a similar voltage of 500 kilovolts each, which took place in early June of this year with the participation of the President of the country Serdar Berdimuhamedov, became clear evidence of the far-sighted energy policy of the head of state on the reliable and uninterrupted supply of electricity to domestic consumers, the diversification of Turkmen electricity supplies to foreign consumers, the creation of new energy capacities, the improvement of the technical condition and the optimal functioning of distribution systems. Currently, power transmission lines and substations with voltages of 500 kV and above occupy a special place in the modern electric power system of independent Turkmenistan. They include devices designed to transmit or distribute electrical energy through wires located in the open air and attached to supports using traverses (brackets), insulators and reinforcements.
