The results of surgical treatment of congenital hernia of the spinal cord in children

Spinal cord herniation in children is one of the difficult to treat and complex congenital malformations in newborns, which accounts for 65% of all congenital malformations of the central nervous system. The only treatment for congenital spinal cord herniation (CSCH) is surgical intervention, which is carried out taking into account the age of a child, location of hernia, size of spinal defect, and degree of hydrocephalus.

The state of hemostatic system as a result of thermal injury in children

Thermal burns in children rank third in the world among the causes of unintentional injuries. Severe consequences in children are caused by burns with an area of more than 10% of the total body surface area, characterized by the development of general and local disorders [2]. In patients with burn injuries, coagulopathy is characterized by procoagulant and antifibrinolytic changes, as well as an impaired activity of natural anticoagulant systems [5].

Revealing the phytoncidal properties of licorice root decoction

As it is known, one of the important tasks of medicine is the production of effective and affordable medicines, primarily made from medicinal plants [2]. Due to the increase in the number of pathogenic microorganisms resistant to many antibiotics, it is now necessary to find ways to obtain new drugs and replenish supplies of “green pharmacy”. Based on this, we tried to identify the activity of decoctions from licorice root against some bacteria.

Modern diagnostics and treatment of Kawasaki disease

Kawasaki disease (KD) is a systemic necrotizing vasculitis characterized mainly by lesions of small and medium-sized arteries. In KD, coronary arteries are affected in 20% of cases [1, 2, 4]. In 80% of cases, children under 8 years of age, mostly boys, get sick. KD is rare in adults. Recently, KD-like systemic manifestations associated with coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported in adults. Genetic factors influence the growth of coronary artery aneurysms [8, 9, 15].

The significance of medical diplomacy in the health care system of Turkmenistan

Currently, medical diplomacy as an instrument of international politics and the formation of a positive image of the state occupies a special place in the world political arena. Taking into account the ever-increasing international interest in the national health care system of Turkmenistan, medical diplomacy is another opportunity for the exchange of experience in the health care structure, including on the issues of combating the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences [1]. The concept of "Global Health Diplomacy" appeared in the lexicon of diplomats in the 70s of the last century. At present, this concept has become widely known. Its goal is to coordinate the efforts of international organizations, using the possibilities of medicine as an instrument of international politics [2].

Adaptative capabilities of the cardiovascular system of first-year students

One of the leading criteria for the quality of life is nutrition [10]. Disturbances in the structure of nutrition to a high extent affect the state of human health, especially during periods of increased stress [7, 9]. A special category of the population belonging to the high-risk group are students whose period of final maturation of the body coincides with the period of intensive learning [4].

Effectiveness of phytotherapy as a part of combined treatment in women with habitual miscarriage and chronic pyelonephritis

It is known that chronic pyelonephritis most often manifests itself during pregnancy, leads to complications of gestation, an increase in morbidity and mortality among newborns, so the study of the problem of chronic pyelonephritis remains relevant from the standpoint of modern obstetrics and perinatology. The aim of the work is to evaluate the effectiveness of measures combined with phytotherapy before and during pregnancy in women with chronic pyelonephritis and a history of recurrent miscarriages.

Clinical significance of ultrasound in the diagnostics of hip dysplasia

Early diagnosis of hip dysplasia in newborns and children under one year of age using safe methods is one of the most important tasks of pediatric orthopedics. Ultrasound examination, which allows to obtain complete information about the structure of hip joint, is publicly available in all medical institutions providing services to newborns. An additional advantage of this method is that the child's motor activity at the time of the study does not affect its quality and effectiveness.

Modern concepts of relationship between intestinal microflora and obesity

Obesity and related diseases are on the rise worldwide, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Overweight is also increasingly common among children, indicating that the epidemic will continue to grow [5]. In recent years, many scientific works have appeared indicating the relationship of intestinal microflora with many diseases, in particular, with diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis, and inflammatory bowel diseases [7, 12]. Human body "collaborates" with the microbiota due to so-called phenomenon of metabolic integration [1]. At the same time, a person receives from microorganisms a number of key metabolites, in particular, short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) [7]. It is known that with the same food intake and exercise regimen, there is a different susceptibility to an increase or decrease in body weight and a possible cause is the different metabolic activity of the human microbiome, including the different composition of the intestinal microflora [2, 5].

Content of vitamins in the composition of herbal tea

Vitamins are indispensable regulators of vital processes of the body; vitamins C, P, K, and A play the most important role in humans. Their absence or deficiency often leads to the occurrence of certain diseases [1]. The aim of the work is to determine the content of vitamins in herbal tea from medicinal plants of Turkmenistan using spectrophotometric, volumetric and weight methods of analysis.

Comparative analysis of the effectiveness of vaccination with the second booster dose against COVID-19

Despite the decline in the incidence of COVID-19, the global pandemic is not over yet [7]. The aim of the work is a comparative assessment of the effectiveness of vaccines from different manufacturers as the 2nd booster dose against COVID-19.

Influence of cytotoxic lymphocytes on the progression of pigmented papillary-nodular synovitis

There are contrary opinions about the nature of pigmented papillary-nodular synovitis (PPNS) in the scientific literature. Despite the fact that some authors express the opinion that PPNS is an inflammatory process, most authors classify this disease as a neoplasia with aggressive destructive local behavior and a high recurrence rate of 50-70% [3, 8, 10]. It remains undisputed that PPNS is accompanied by a constant uncontrolled proliferation of synovial cells; at the same time, the mechanisms that cause this proliferation, as before, are still unknown [9]. The aim of the work is to study the effect of cytotoxic lymphocytes (natural killers) on the progression of pigmented papillary-nodular synovitis.

Peculiarities of the course of chronic pyelonephritis in elderly patients

Chronic pyelonephritis in elderly patients is a nonspecific infectious and inflammatory disease of kidneys that affects renal parenchyma, mainly interstitial tissue, pelvis and calyces [2, 6, 7]. Chronic pyelonephritis in the elderly occurs in 15-25% of cases [8, 9]. The aim of the work is to study the difficulty of diagnosing and treating chronic pyelonephritis in elderly patients due to the peculiarities of its low-symptomatic and latent course.

Improvement of treatment methods of malignant neoplasms of the larynx

Malignant neoplasms of the larynx account for 1–5% of all malignant neoplasms, and 50–60% among malignant neoplasms of the head and neck [1, 7]. The peculiarity of the treatment of malignant neoplasms of the larynx (MNL) is not only in curing the patient from a malignant neoplasm, but also in restoring the respiratory, vocal and protective functions of the larynx. The aim of the work is to evaluate the results and methods of treatment of malignant neoplasms of the larynx.

Modern treatment approaches of patients with long-term non-healing burn wounds

Long-term non-healing wounds (burns, ulcers) remain one of the significant problems of modern surgery and combustiology in almost all countries of the world [5]. In practice, a chronic wound is considered to exist for more than 4 weeks without signs of active healing (the exception is extensive wound defects with signs of active repair) [6]. The aim of the work is to analyze the results obtained with the use of modern dressings in the treatment of long-term non-healing burn wounds.

Selection and use of coronary shunts in cardiovascular surgery

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is a widely recognized and highly effective treatment for coronary heart disease. The main task of surgical treatment is to create reliable, high-quality, and most importantly, durable ways to bypass the stenotic area or occlusion of the coronary artery. Therefore, the optimal choice of conduit is one of the key points of the operation, which affects the duration and quality of the patient's future life. Currently, there is experience in the use of synthetic prostheses, however, in the vast majority of cases, the patient's own vessels are used as a bypass material: the great and small saphenous veins, the radial and ulnar arteries, the internal mammary arteries, the gastroepiploic and epigastric arteries. Regarding the last two, there is not much information due to the fact that they are used infrequently, mainly due to the failure of the remaining vessels as a “forced shunt” [3].

Modern view on the mechanisms of arrhythmias

According to the World Health Organization, an arrhythmia is any heart rhythm that differs from normal sinus rhythm. Arrhythmias are associated with many pathogenetic mechanisms, including impaired automatism, excitability, contractility, refractoriness, conduction, and aberration (possibility of passing an impulse along additional pathways) of the heart [2, 4, 12].

The effective methods of visualization of a pathology of the posterior segment of the eye with divergent strabismus in children

Most ophthalmologists note the appearance of the first signs of divergent strabismus before the age of 6 years [8, 10]. With divergent strabismus, combined with myopic refraction, there is a gradual decrease in vision in one eye, development of amblyopia, and impaired formation of binocular vision [3, 4, 6]. The aim of the work is to study the effectiveness of optical coherence tomography of the eye in children with concomitant divergent strabismus with myopic refraction.

Strategy errors in the diagnostics of soft tissue sarcomas

Currently, according to the WHO classification, more than 50 morphological types of soft tissue sarcomas (STS) are distinguished, and the approaches of their treatment also differ [2-4]. This disease is equally common among men and women, more often at the age of 20-40 years. In 50% of patients, the disease affects limbs, in 40% – soft tissues of other parts of the body [1, 2, 6, 7]. The need for proper diagnostics and treatment of this disease, the frequency of diagnostic and therapeutic errors, indicate the importance of this problem [4-7].

The role of new technologies in the detection of malignant neoplasms of the nasopharynx

Malignant neoplasms of the nasopharynx account for 45-55% of all malignant tumors of nasopharynx [1, 7]. The clinic of the disease is characterized by symptoms depending on the location of a tumor in the nasopharynx, growth, and metastasis to regional lymph nodes [2, 5]. The aim of the work is to study the role of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis, determination of the type and degree of a nasopharyngeal tumor.
