President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was elected as the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) Chamber of the new bicameral parliament - Milli Gengesh (National Assembly). The election took place within the framework of the first session of the chamber, held in the building of the Halk Maslahaty Administration, which was solemnly opened on April 14.
The candidacy of a member of the chamber - Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was proposed for the post of Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty.
