The foundation for a good health is laid before the birth of a child. In our country, high priority is therefore given to the programme for maternal and child health care and family reproductive health.
Reproductive health issues were first addressed on a global scale at the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development in Cairo. The participants urged to put women’s reproductive health and rights at the centre of the global and national development agenda. Thanks to the unceasing concern of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the health of mothers and new-born babies, the women reproductive health indicators, including maternal health, are steadily improving in Turkmenistan.
